Meet Our New Staff
Melody is the Volunteer Coordinator running the Pre-employment Volunteer Placement Program and the Community Outreach activities for the Kings County branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).

Our Programs
Lunch and Learn
Enjoy a nutritious lunch, and learn valuable information from various guest speakers ranging from healthy eating tips to community programs.
The Lunch and Learn is available to all individuals living with mental illness or at risk due to isolation or other stressors. The Lunch and Learn takes place in Kentville at the CMHA Kings County Branch office. Drop by any Wednesday at 11:30. Call ahead in case of bad weather 679-7113.
Pre-employment Volunteer Placement Program
Through this program participants are matched with a volunteer position that best suits their skills, abilities and goals. The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities to gain skills and experience for future employment while boosting self-esteem through volunteering. Participants gain a clearer picture of themselves and what they have to offer the community and work toward achieving personal goals. Contact your DCS worker for more information.
The Life Skills Program in the Middleton location has also been concluded and will no longer be offered.

The Kings CMHA Employment Outreach office will continue to assist individuals with employment related needs only.

The Community Outreach office opened in 2008. The "A Mental Health Perspective" newsletter, Healthy Eat & Meet, Lunch and Learn, TECH Program, and Elaine Arsenault Fund are all part of the Community Outreach office.

A Mental Health Perspective’ newsletter Published once per month and distributed to everyone on our distribution list,

The Healthy Eat & Meet in Kentville has been taking place for about two years and is located at the CMHA Kings County Branch office.

The Healthy Eat & Meet in Berwick started November 10th, 2008
and is located in the Chaning Tides.
185 Commercial Street, Unit 105, Berwick
Next door to the Apple Valley Outlet behind the Union Street Cafe.
Drop by any Monday morning in Kentville or Monday afternoon in Berwick.

Lunch and Learn

TECH program (The Environmental Computer Help program)
The Tech Program offers refurbished computers to individuals who take part in the CMHA Employment Outreach and/or Op-Ed program and do not have access to a computer or the financial ability to purchase a computer. Computers are donated to the program and then refurbished by volunteers.

Elaine Arsenault Fund is an adult social / recreational / educational activity fund available to chronic mental health consumers who do not have access to other funding.
